Fiveways 2025: A Year in Review
As 2025 comes to a close, it feels like the right moment to reflect on a year of growth and progress across the business. The fleet, waste and municipal services sectors have continued to evolve, along with new regulations and tighter operational pressures. Throughout these changes, our team has remained focused on what matters most: delivering reliable vehicles to the organisations who keep essential services moving.
Strengthening Partnerships with Local Authorities
One of our standout moments this year was securing the multi-lot contract to supply and maintain new municipal vehicles for the London Borough of Southwark. This award came after supporting the council through spot hire for a number of years, marking an important next step in our relationship.
The upcoming fleet includes the latest in refuse and specialist vehicles, all fitted with advanced safety technology that exceeds Direct Vision Standard requirements. Alongside the supply of these new assets, we will also provide full maintenance support over the six-year contract. The award reflects our service performance and the trust built between our teams over many years.
A Stronger Maintenance Operation
The maintenance we offer has continued to develop, particularly as more operators seek a sole, reliable partner to oversee all aspects of compliance and vehicle performance. This has been demonstrated through our work with customers such as South East Coaches, who benefit from a fully integrated service covering inspections, brake testing, MOT preparation, tacho calibrations and rapid defect repair.
Operators this year have expressed that we have provided faster turnaround times, reduced downtime and a more streamlined compliance process. The dedication of our teams and mobile engineers has been crucial to delivering this level of service.
Developing Our Carbon Reduction Journey
2025 marked the beginning of an important new initiative: the start of our carbon reduction journey with Auditel. Since we started with them, we have been working closely to understand our environmental footprint. This assessment will inform the decisions we make in the years ahead, including opportunities around renewable energy, waste reduction and operational efficiencies.
This work is the start of a longer standing commitment to build a more sustainable brand that aligns with the changing expectations of our customers and the sector as a whole.
Innovation Through Digital Communication
This year also showed growth in the use of our mobile digital screens, which allow councils and contractors to deliver messaging directly into the communities they serve. These screens have been used to communicate everything from service changes and Simpler Recycling updates to local events.
By integrating communication into everyday service, our customers have been able to push messages to residents more effectively and consistently, without needing additional resources or campaigns.
Celebrating Our Team
Across the business, 2025 has been a year of professional development and milestones. From celebrating achievements, such as Paolo, our service desk manager, celebrating 16 years at Fiveways, to welcoming new engineers and operational staff, our success continues to be driven by the people who show up every day with professionalism, expertise and teamwork.
Their commitment has been great during peak operational periods, when the pressure on customers is at its highest.
Investment in Our Fleet and Facilities
We have continued to invest in both our hire fleet and our workshop capabilities, ensuring we have the right assets and infrastructure to support customers through the challenges of the year ahead. This includes expanding our specialist municipal fleet, adopting new diagnostic and testing technology, and increasing capacity across our maintenance facilities and mobile engineering operations.
These investments help to ensure that we can deliver the reliability our customers depend on.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Next year will bring its own challenges and opportunities: the next phase of the Simpler Recycling rollout, increased safety standards and continued pressure on fleet budgets. As always, our priority is to support our customers through these changes with our dependable vehicles, expert maintenance and advice.
A Final Thank You
Thank you to our customers, partners and colleagues for your support throughout 2025. It has been a year of progress and preparation for the future, and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved! We look forward to continuing that journey with you in 2026.
